Aesthetician Diandra Politano Shares her 5 Skincare Tips for the Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, our friend and The Skincare Expert for Dior, Diandra Politano shares her top five skincare tips for achieving a flawless complexion during this festive time.

Treat your skin from the inside

We drink more and consume more sugar during the festive season.
Be mindful — I start my morning with warm lemon water. Throughout the day, I collagen load with PEARL, with a serving in coffee and another in the afternoon; the matcha flavor served in a warm latte helps kick sugar cravings. Include foods with natural detoxifying properties, such as lemon, garlic, and leafy greens. These can help support your body's natural detoxification processes. I like to end the evening on Christmas day, or whatever day you are celebrating, with a herbal tea like peppermint, ginger, or chamomile.

Things I like to share with clients: Excessive sugar intake can contribute to inflammation, which may negatively impact your skin. Be mindful of sugary treats during festive times and opt for healthier alternatives or moderate your consumption. Include probiotic-rich foods like yogurt, kefir, and kimchi in your diet. A balanced gut microbiome is linked to better skin health.

Get a beautiful hat and
an SPF you love to use

The Australian sun is dangerous and is ruining our skin. I have one trendy cap that I love to run around in, then a beautiful wide-brim bucket hat for days in the sun and post facial/peel days. I live in them in summer. It’s a habit now, and my face rarely gets direct exposure. I'm also obsessed with the Rationale Tinted Serum, a gorgeous lightweight, glowy SPF 50. You will not go a day without something you're obsessed with.

Have a New Year's facial

An intelligent skin treatment can really reset your skin and wipe the slate clean after sun exposure and dietary-related breakouts. Of course, being regular in the clinic will benefit the skin more. However, I also like to assure clients if that isn’t realistic for you, seasonal facials every 12 weeks are incredibly beneficial as well. It resets your skin after the harsh changes. After not eating so well and drinking, I love to have a dermal peel and light therapy.

Quality Sleep

Take advantage of the time off and get good quality sleep. A lack of sleep can disrupt digestion and impact skin health. Aim for quality sleep during festive times to allow your body to reset and rejuvenate.

Makeup Detox

Go makeup-free when possible. Letting the skin breathe throughout the day will help clear your complexion. Some makeup can dry the skin out or cause congestion. Going makeup-free is the best detox! You can opt for products that make you glow and reflect light.
Or choose a mineral makeup with skin-loving ingredients like: Liquid Mineral Foundation
Remember, the key is balance. By focusing on digestive health and making mindful choices during festive occasions, you can support not only your digestive system but also promote a healthy and glowing complexion.
