Healthy morning rituals help to ensure you kickstart the day on the perfect tune. By incorporating the below morning wellness hacks, you can begin your day feeling clear, calm and clarified. Read on to learn some of our go-to morning wellness hacks:


1. SCHEDULE YOUR WAKE TIME
The bodies natural circadian rhythm dictates the hours that we sleep and wake, however, lifestyle factors such blue light (from our phones, TV and computer screens), stress and cortisol can disrupt this natural rhythm. To enable our internal “clock” to reach its peak performance, we recommend minimising screen time 1 hour before bed, and setting your alarm to 8 hours after sleep. Once your alarm goes off, wake and try to incorporate natural sunlight into your morning routine.


2. HYDRATE
After a restful 8 hours of sleep, rehydration is key. Before reaching for your morning cup of caffeine, fill a large mug with warm water, squeeze half a lemon and a tsp. of honey. This boost of antioxidants is warming, and gently wakes up your digestive system for the day ahead.


3. MINDFULLNESS
Practicing morning meditation or gratitude can have a huge impact on the quality of your day. As you sit with your warm lemon water, write down 5 things you are grateful for today, or if you can, meditate for 5-15 minutes. The key is to make these moments achievable and realistic, so you can incorporate these mindful moments into your everyday life.


4. MOVEMENT
During sleep, you are in a static period for 8 hours. Once you are awake, it is important to perform movement to increase mobility and flexibility. We recommend a simple cat and cow stretch, followed by 5 minutes of dry body brushing before your shower. This dry body brushing will improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage for the day ahead.


5. NUTRITION
The morning is your most optimal time to boost digestion and nutrient absorption for the day ahead. A balanced breakfast consists of a healthy source of protein, fats and carbohydrates to fuel you for the day.
